HYSWEEP Performance Test work flow

Preparing the survey

  • Find a good location - very flat area, uniform bottom
  • Always use RTK
  • Create two sets of parallel lines, crossing at 90 degrees (grid)
    • Line separation = Water Depth - This facilitates beam stats out to 75 degrees
  • Create reference matrix to paint of 1x1 cell resolution
  • Survey the Reference Lines at low or high tide. Load SV cast is a must
  • Survey the Check lines - These are the middle lines in the NS and EW

Processing the data

  • MbMax64
  • Load reference surface into the editor
    • Use a user defined matrix of a 1x1 grid
    • Apply SV corrections
    • Filter data out to +/- 45 degree angle limit
    • Edit flyers
    • Save out to XYZ - one point per cell, average 3 points
  • Load the check survey into MBmax64
    • Edit Minimally removing outliers and DO NOT user angel limits
    • Start the Beam angle test from the tools menu
    • pen the reference XYZ surface from the step above
  • View the results
      • X Axis is beam angle.
      • Y Axis is depth difference.
      • x’s show bias.
      • o’s show repeatability. Maximum difference at 95% confidence.
      • Histogram is the distribution.
      • Max Outlier = Max difference.
      • Mean Difference shows bias between reference and the check lines.
      • 95% confidence = 2 * Standard Deviation.
