HYPACK Conference 2019
Posted by Jerry Knisley on 11 December 2018 01:38 PM

Come join us for the 26th annual HYPACK Training Event in Corpus Christi, Texas. Over the course of this training event you will learn the newest features of HYPACK® 2019 as well as comprehensive training in HYPACK®, HYSWEEP® and DREDGEPACK® software.

HYPACK certified trainers and programmers are also present for one-on-one sessions throughout the event giving attendees the opportunity to discuss any project specific questions.

This year the conference format has been modified to better align with the use of the HYPACK software. Each session is geared towards the overall function and how the HYPACK software can serve your needs.

Don’t forget about our new Q&A session......

Course Descriptions

Sensor Theory – Understanding Hardware
This presentation covers the basic theory of sonar. Specific types discussed will include multi beam sonars (beam-forming & interferometers), side scan sonars, magnetometers and sub-bottom profiling systems.

MBES – Data Collection
This is a discussion on HYSWEEP software functions common to all sonars. Trainer will also cover MB data collection best practices and how to use the QC tools in real time to ensure quality data is collected.

MBES – Data Processing

An exploration of MBMAX64 multi beam processing, from manual editing of critical clearance sections to full autoprocessing. Topics covered include how to merge post processed inertial and GPS data into your surveys, and utilizing SVP and tide methods.

MBES – Patch / Performance
Discussion and demonstration of single and dual head MBES patch testing using MBMAX64. This will also feature our system performance testing including our “New” Beam Angle Test, check line comparisons and statistics.

Introduction to Surveying and HYPACK
A basic understanding of common terminology and software functions used to perform a bathymetric survey within HYPACK.

SBES – Configuring Hardware
This session covers different device configuration options that can be used to interface to HYPACK.

SBES – Collecting Data
This session concentrates on the Survey program within HYPACK. Attendees will learn the many options this program offers that assist users in collecting data.

SBES – Editing Data
Learn how to navigate through the workflow process of single beam data. Additional topics cover during this session will include the processing of tidal data and the filtering data points.

SBES – Sounding Selection
This session is geared toward the use of the SORT, Cross Sort and Sounding Selection programs. The Sounding Migration program will be covered as well.

Movin’ on up - Intro to MBES
This course is an introduction to the upgrading from single beam to multi beam system. Learn the different survey procedures and equipment necessary to ensure a successful transition.

HYPACK and Autonomous Vehicles
Learn how HYPACK on an autonomous vehicle can make a huge impact on your surveying capabilities.

This workshop features the NEXUS-800 LiDAR equipped drone. Several case studies will be presented to show the areas where the NEXUS-800 excels.

Geodesy and RTK
Gain an understanding of how to set the geodetic parameters of your survey using HYPACK’s Project Geodesy. Included in this session will be an in depth coverage of Real Time Kinematic GPS setup.

Ancillary Uses of HYPACK
HYPACK can do more than collect bathymetric data. In this session learn the many ways how HYPACK software can be used for non-survey related operations such rig moves, asset tracking and environmental sensor recording.

This session focuses on the operation of DREDGEPACK in real time, as well as the necessary preparation required to successfully manage your operation.

This topic will show what tools exist in the HYPACK software to assist in the daily reporting of work completed.

Tin Model
Understand the methods for creating a TIN MODEL as well as the different output files that can be generated.

This session will explain the Cross Sections and Volumes program and touch on the variety of volume methods.

Final Products
This presentation covers how to create and edit Electronic Navigation Charts (ENC’s), export datasets to CAD, plot charts of datasets and how to use the Final Products Wizard.

Sub-Bottom Data Collection & Processing
This presentation covers how to collect sub-bottom data from many different sub-bottom profiling systems. Basic and advanced processing techniques will be covered on a variety of sub-bottom datasets.

You will also find 30 of the industry’s leading exhibitors from the industry’s leading hardware manufacturers, equipment resellers and service providers will be on hand in the exhibit hall or performing on-the-water demonstrations.

HYPACK Sidescan Updates - Marine Search
Posted by Jerry Knisley on 07 September 2018 12:27 PM

Working with the New Haven Fire Department in their marine search capabilities has led to some excellent updates to the sidescan function of HYPACK. The screen capture below shows the middle jetty in New Haven Harbor, surveyed with the Klein 3500 sidescan during training exercises. The mosaic was compiled and overlaid on the S-57 chart. This particular survey was conducted in CT State Plane, however, the Marine Search software will soon support the US National Grid used by FEMA.
